We just got back from the Wilbur hot springs last week near Davis. The springs were only an hour and a half drive away from home and a great day trip. There were three flumes, with hot spring water flowing continuously through and out to the drying stream. In the spring time, the stream flows well. The concentrated smell of sulfur reminded me of Yellowstone. The three flumes varied in temperature at 100, 105, and 109. There was also a sauna, with a pull down cold shower, and a swimming pool at a brisk 80 degrees.

The facility itself is situated among 1800 acres private reserve. We took a long dirt road into the property, out of cell phone range. It was very peaceful to be away from the world and to take a day off to enjoy the springs, hot sun, and quietness.

We expected the “clothing optional” retreat to be mostly old people like you see in the gyms. However, we were very suprised of the wide range of people that were there, albeit, mostly hippies. I look forward to coming again soon.
